 Forty three miners killed in an explosion at Huntly
 In the year of 1914 on the 12 of September at 7.20 AM, an explosion at Ralph’s mine on Raynor Rd rocked Huntly. 60 men were in the mine when it was started by a miner’s lamp igniting firedamp but the firedamp caused the explosion.

5. 1941 prompted Joseph Stalin to send over 120,000 Polish prisoners to Iran.
6. Relatives joined some in the late 1940s and while a small number returned to Poland.

 On a low clouded day at 12.49 pm NZST, the aircraft crashed into a slope at Mt Erebus killing all 237 passengers and 20 crew on board.

Flight te901 left Mangere airport and was flying to Antarctica when there was an error and the plane body slammed into Mt Erebus

Baxter had devoted the last years of his life to social work among alcoholics and drug addicts.
